S-Adenosyl Methionine [SAMe]

This amino acid derivative is present in all living organisms. SAMe is a physiological methyl donor involved in enzymatic transmethylation reactions. It donates methyl groups to chemical compounds including neurotransmitters. Supplementation raises serotonin and dopamine/phosphatide levels. SAMe levels are impaired in people suffering with depression also enhances cartilage formation. SAM is derived by extraction from specific strains of yeast.

SAMe has become established as a successful pharmaceutical/ nutraceutical product especially popular in the U.S. At present there is shortage of SAMe limiting availability.

We foresee a rapid growth of SAMe consumption within the next 5-10 years. As yet no Chinese companies have entered this area and consequently prices are likely to remain stable.
