Nitrogen Media in Fermentation - Current Status and Outlook by 2015
This survey reviews nitrogen media including organic
[cornsteep liquor, oilseed meals, soya/cottonseed flour, yeast extracts, protein hydrolysates]
as well as inorganic [ammonia & salts].
The survey is structured into 3 sections:
- In section A, nitrogen media, both inorganic and organic,
used in industrial fermentation processes, their composition, prices and
nitrogen cost per ton medium are reviewed.
- In section B, nitrogen [organic and inorganic] media used in various
industrial fermentation processes including antibiotics, organic acids, enzymes,
amino acids, polysaccharides, vitamins, starter cultures and yeast are reviewed
and the consumption is estimated.
- Section C is a summary listing total consumption of organic and inorganic N media
in fermentation, and opportunities for introduction of novel nitrogen?containing media
especially in biotechnology processes based on recombinant microorganisms.
The estimated demand for nitrogen media by 2015 is determined
