s-Adenosyl Methionine [SAMe] – Current Status & Outlook by 2020

This amino acid derivate is present in all living organisms. SAMe is a physiological methyl donor involved in enzymatic transmethylation reactions. It donates methyl groups to chemical compounds including neurotransmitters. Supplementation raises serotonin and dopamine/phosphatide levels. SAMe levels are impaired in people suffering with depression and also enhances cartilage formation. SAMe is derived by extraction from specific strains of yeast.

The projected market for SAMe by 2020 is estimated.
