Fermentation and Biotechnology Industry – Current Capacity and Capacity Requirements by 2020

The fermentation capacities of fermentation products [antibiotics, organic acids, enzymes, amino acids, polysaccharides, vitamins] are assessed by geographical region. The capacities of biotechnological products by region are given and novel biotechnology products that are likely to appear in the near future are reviewed.
Over 40 fermentation and biotechnology companies in Europe, U.S., Japan and Korea are profiled. Production economics for various fermentation and biotechnology products are reviewed listing yields, manufacturing costs and product output values.

The estimated fermentation plant capacities by 2020 are determined.
