dl-Malic Acid & l-Malic Acid – Current Status and Outlook by 2020

dl-Malic acid prepared from maleic anhydride is an acidulant with well-established applications in beverages and foods. l-Malic acid is obtained by enzymatic conversion of fumaric acid. This biochemical organic acid has excellent acidulant characteristics and finds uses in beverages and pharmaceuticals.

The output and producers of dl- and l-malic acid are reviewed and projected output by 2020 is determined.
